Welcome to my blog, and thank you for your visit! I am launching a business that has been inspired my whole life by the many people I've known and places I've seen along this journey. That is what my blog is about and why I named my business "Becky's Inspired Art"
I have loved to draw people ever since I was little. My mother is an artist and I never even knew what that meant growing up because it was a part of our normal daily life. She painted using oils, acrylics, and watercolors, but my true love was drawing, especially people. I drew all the time and still do today.
I love what it means to be an artist because it has made me appreciate my God-given gifts and those of others. When my grandmother died, my grandfather had the word "artist" inscribed on her monument to describe her. I was confused back then because she was a country farm wife and had never picked up a paint brush. I later realized that she was an artist in the truest sense. Everything she did was done creatively, thoughtfully and beautifully. She was excellent at all of the domestic arts, including her beautiful gardens and homemade quilts. Since then, I have learned so much and look forward to continued learning. Below is a snapshot of a portrait I did of her 20 years ago! It is framed under glass, so this picture has some glare.
I hope you enjoy this blog and feel comfortable sharing your stories too!
Based in Birmingham, AL, I love creating portraits in charcoal and pastels. Join me on my creative journey, inspired by the people, places, and pets I've met along the way!
