This portrait of my son Jordan is a departure from my usual pastel work. I love working with pencils, and this project gave me the opportunity to develop my skills with that medium.
Originally, this was to be a preliminary sketch for a pastel piece, but I like how the values turned out using graphite, so I decided to complete it this way! It seems to more dramatically reflect the mood of the subject.
