A couple of weeks ago, I posted about when my two boys were little and the subject matter of several of my portraits. Of course, they were beautiful and perfect babies =D but they also happened to be very handy subjects. This is one of my early works of my son, Jake as a young boy.
I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn and develop skills using pastels as a medium over the years. However, my real satisfaction comes with capturing a likeness. It is satisfying for artists with left-brain tendencies, such as myself. I have this whole right brain/left brain warfare going on all the time. My art teacher said that drawing a portrait is more like architecture or drafting, more of a science than an art. So that explains it!
Thanks for the visit and I'll see you next week.
Based in Birmingham, AL, I love creating portraits in charcoal and pastels. Join me on my creative journey, inspired by the people, places, and pets I've met along the way!
