This is a commission that a friend of mine asked me to do for her friend who'd lost her beloved dog, Dixie. She was a Bichon Shih-Tzu and she is devastated by this loss. My heart goes out to her because it is heartbreaking to lose a special pet, a member of your family. She does look like a sweet little thing!
"Hobbes" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
The last day of the challenge is my own sweet Beagle-mix, Hobbes, who crossed the rainbow bridge a few years ago. We loved him so.
This has been such a great experience of learning and sharing. I've posted these daily on social media and received such great support and encouragement. And a few orders! I'm excited to have the opportunity to do portraits of other people's beloved pets. I know how much our fur babies mean to our families.
"English Creme Golden Retriever" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
I know I already did a Golden, but I think these dogs are so beautiful I wanted to do another. This is called an English Cream Golden Retriever. I found the drawing online and wanted to try it myself with the white charcoal, and I like how it turned out.
"Lab Puppy" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
I couldn't resist drawing this little sweetie with the big puppy dog eyes. Day #28 of 30!
"Border Terrier" 8x10, Graphite and Charcoal
This little fellow turned out looking a little sleepy. He also looks like he's talking! "Heyyy!"
"Llewellyn Setter Puppy" 8x10 Graphite and Pastel
The beautiful hunter Llewellyn Setter puppy is day #26...
"Shar Pei" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
By request, this is my cousin's star pei, Gracie Faith. They have two of these lovable and wrinkly dogs! Day #25...five more to go!!
"Australian Shepherd" 8x10, Graphite, Charcoal, and Pastel
I think these dogs are so beautiful! The Australian Shepherd breed, or Aussie, actually was developed in the U.S.
"Catahoula" 8x10, Graphite, Pastel, and Charcoal
This was a commission for my friend Linda, who wants it for a Christmas gift. Turned out a lot better than I was expecting it to. I added the third color in pastel this time, and I like the effect. This breed is a hunting dog that originated from Louisiana.
"Corgi" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
The Corgi has been a symbol of the British monarchy since 1933. There have been at least 30 royal Corgis! Reportedly, the last Corgi died this year, marking the end of the royal Corgis.
"Shih Tzu" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
Playful and intelligent, the tiny Shih Tzu is Day 17 of the 30-day Challenge
"English Springer Spaniel" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
Cheerful and affectionate, the English Springer Spaniel is Day #16
"Grandchildren" 8x10, Graphite and Charcoal
Day #15 is a departure from the pups. This is a commission I completed in August for a lifelong friend of my husband's. These are two of his grandchildren, aren't they cute?
"Beagle" 8 x 10, Graphite and Charcoal
OMG I love Beagles, and the puppies are the cutest. I used to have a beagle mix that died a few years ago and broke all of our hearts. He was the cutest, and I'll hopefully be able to post a portrait of him this month. But in the meantime, here's this puppypost.
"English Cream Long Haired Dachshund" 8 x 10 Graphite and Charcoal
Pint-sized dog with a loving personality, the English Cream Dachshund is my pick for Day #13
"Havanese" 8 x 10, Graphite and Charcoal
Playful and gentle, the Havanese is the national dog of Cuba! This cutie is Day #12.
"Jack Russell Terrier" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
Here's a fun little fella for you. The energetic and clever Jack Russell is my Day #10 pick!
"Tibetan Spaniel" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
This little fella is called a Tibetan Spaniel. I had actually never heard of this breed, so had to do some research. My friend, Marlene, has one of these playful little dogs. I can't wait to meet him in person!
"Boxer" 8x10 Graphite and Charcoal
Energetic, playful, fearless, the boxer is my pick for Day 7 of the 30-day challenge. Week 1 is in the books! Only 3 more weeks to go!
